U.S. Export Statistics
Corn: Net sales for the 2019/2020 marketing year, which began September 1, totaled 498,100 MT. Increases were reported for Mexico (193,800 MT, including decreases of 11,600 MT), Japan (158,100 MT, including 88,900 MT switched from unknown destinations), Colombia (96,200 MT), Nicaragua (58,000 MT), and Costa Rica (41,200MT, including 30,100 MT switched from unknown destinations). Reductions were primarily for unknown destinations (120,300 MT). A total of 734,400 MT in sales were carried over from the 2018/2019 marketing year, which ended August 31. Exports for the period ending August 31 of 278,000 MT brought accumulated exports to 49,202,100 MT, down 14 percent from the prior year’s total of 57,473,700 MT. The primary destinations were Mexico (88,200 MT), Saudi Arabia (58,900 MT), China (58,000 MT), El Salvador (22,500 MT), and Guatemala (19,500 MT). Exports for September 1-5 totaled 412,200 MT, with Mexico (212,000 MT) and Japan (109,700 MT) being the primary destinations.
Optional Origin Sales: For 2018/2019, options were exercised to export 65,000 MT to South Korea from other than the United States. For 2019/2020, new optional origin sales of 60,000 MT were reported for China. The current outstanding balance of 570,000 MT is for South Korea (390,000 MT), Israel (120,000 MT), and China (60,000 MT).
Barley: No net sales for 2019/2020 were reported for the week. Exports of 1,400 MT were to Japan.
Sorghum: Net sales for the 2019/2020 marketing year, which began September 1, totaled 24,300 MT. Increases reported for unknown destinations (18,000 MT) and Mexico (7,500 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Eritrea (1,200 MT). A total of 32,900 MT in sales were carried over from the 2018/2019 marketing year, which ended August 31. Exports for the period ending August 31 of 1,200 MT brought accumulated exports to 1,693,800 MT, down 66 percent from the prior year’s total of 5,080,900 MT. The destinations were Mexico (1,100 MT) and South Korea (100 MT). Total exports for September 1-5 of 28,800 MT were to Eritrea.
