Emily Sutton joined the U.S. Grains Council on July 23 as manager of communications in the organization’s Washington, D.C., headquarters.
In this role, Sutton will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the USGC’s publications, website, social media presence and other internal and external outreach.
“We are very excited to have Emily come on board in this pivotal position,” said Bryan Jernigan, USGC director of communications. “Emily’s previous experience and outgoing demeanor have prepared her to step into this demanding role, and she’s already hit the ground running by joining Council staff members at our recent meeting in Des Moines.”
Before joining the Council, Sutton held communications roles in several industries, including agriculture. She worked as an intern with both Hog Slat, Inc. and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services before entering her most recent role as creative lead with Prim Marketing Group.
“Coming from a rural community in Eastern North Carolina, agriculture has always been special to me. I am excited to begin this journey with an organization that has that same appreciation,” Sutton said. “I look forward to telling the stories of those in this industry and the work of the Council.”
An alumna of the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at UNC-Chapel Hill, Sutton possesses a bachelor’s of arts degree in media and journalism.
Please join the Council in welcoming Emily!
