The U.S. Grains Council Middle East and Africa regional office in Tunis covers the European Union, the Mediterranean region (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Libya); the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Jordan, U.A.E., Turkey and Egypt); and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Operating since December 1996 after being transferred from Vienna, the work this office does focuses on collaborating with government entities and feed grains importers and feed millers to plan and implement trade promotion activities. These activities typically include educational seminars/workshops, short courses/training sessions as well as sponsoring team trips to the U.S.
The U.S. Grains Council has played an important role in increasing the feed grains market capacities in the region in removing certain import bans and customs duties on imports of sorghum, barley and corn and its co-products and through the organization of feeding trials.
