The U.S. Grains Council’s (USGC’s) Sadie Marks officially transitioned to the global strategies department on Feb. 1 in the organization’s Washington, D.C., headquarters. Formerly manger of global programs, Marks now holds the title of manager of global strategies and trade.
In this role, Marks will continue to act as the barley sector liaison, however, she will now assist the global strategies team in coordinating programming with the Europe, Middle East and Africa regional office.
“Sadie started at the Council three years ago, just prior to the onset of the pandemic, as the global programs coordinator and was promoted to global programs manager in August 2021. I look forward to having her join the global strategies team as we prepare for a robust programming calendar in 2023,” said Kurt Shultz, USGC senior director of global strategies.
With Marks’ move to the global strategies team, Sierra Richey was promoted to manager of global programs as of Feb. 6.
Richey previously served the Council as global programs coordinator.
In her new position, she will assist the director of global programs in supervising the Council’s global offices, with a focus on the Latin America region, supporting the offices in Panama and Mexico with their market development programs. In addition, Richey will assist in the development, writing and submission of the Council’s Unified Export Strategy (UES) application.
“After a summer internship with USGC’s Panama office, Sierra officially joined the Council as global programs coordinator and demonstrated positive impact immediately,” said Emily Pogue, USGC director of global programs.
“Over the past 14 months, Sierra has become an expert and mentor in our Excellence in Execution program, she has developed strong relationships with D.C. and global staff as well as our members and consultants, and she has thought creatively and strategically about opportunities to continually improve how the global programs team works. Sierra is well positioned to take on the challenges of the manager role as the Council continues to expand its global programming and strengthen stakeholder engagement.”
Please join the Council in congratulating Sadie and Sierra!
