The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) welcomed new staff members Alvaro Lopez and George Millard to the Latin America regional office in Panama on Feb. 1.
Lopez will take on the role of regional marketing specialist. In this capacity, he will be working closely with Ana Maria Ballesteros, regional marketing director, on Latin America’s feed grains portfolio.
Prior to the Council, Lopez gained extensive experience as a grain merchandizer having worked with ADM and Sanut on the corn, sorghum, wheat and edible oil trade desks.
“Alvaro is an outside-the-box thinker, working on specialty and financing programs,” said Marri Tejada, USGC regional director for Latin America. “We are excited for his creativity and experience to elevate the Council’s programs in a variety of locations across the region.”
Along with Lopez, George Millard will be joining the Council’s Panama office staff as the regional accountant. In this capacity, he will help the Council’s Latin America office run smoothly and keep the organization compliant with accounting standards.
Prior to the Council, Millard worked for multinational companies including 3M, Dell and most recently with Empresas Eco, a Swedish energy company with projects in renewable energy (wind/solar) and sustainability investments.
“George studied English while getting his MBA in St. Louis,” Tejada said. “He will be able to apply strategic principles as he brings extensive financial and analytical experience to the Council’s team.”
Please join the Council in welcoming Alvaro and George!
