The U.S. Grains Council Regional Office for Europe, the Middle East and Africa is based in Tunis, Tunisia.

Operating since December 1996 after being transferred from Vienna, the regional office plays an instrumental role in collaborating with government entities and feed grains importers and feed millers to plan and implement capacity building and trade promotion activities/programs through its recently established Regional Feed Training Center in Tunisia, West Africa Poultry Training Program in Morocco, Food For Progress (FFP) Program in Tanzania, as well as The Council’s Grains, Corn Co-products and Ethanol Summits, Trade Missions, Technical and Policy Seminars/Workshops, and Bilateral Working Groups.

The EMEA region holds a significant and considerable long-term growth potential for increased demand and market share in U.S. feed grains. Regional imports from the United States have continued to grow over the past six years from 380 million bushels (of corn-equivalent) in 2013 marketing year to more than 630 million bushels (of corn-equivalent) in 2019 marketing year.

Today, Europe, the Middle East and Africa import 240 million gallons of U.S. ethanol for both fuel and industrial uses and the Council is working to increase the value of U.S. ethanol exports to the region, especially with the moves to meet the Paris Agreements Commitments by 2030.

The U.S. Grains Council’s long history of engagement in the region will continue for years to come — seeking to explore short-term market opportunities and to continue building long-lasting and successful partnerships with industry, importers, livestock producers, government officials, and respected organizations through trade as a win-win relationship.
