U.S. Grains Council (USGC) members and staff are in Austin, Texas this week for the organization’s 22nd International Marketing Conference and 65th Annual Membership Meeting.

The opening session of the meeting spotlighted impactful conversations around new markets, promotion of the United Nation’s upcoming International Year of the Woman Farmer, the evolving trade landscape and discussions of the Council’s upcoming global trade strategy.

Today’s events included Advisory Team (A-Team) and commodity sector sessions, where experts in various agricultural commodities and markets come together to conduct market and commodity-specific deep-dives and share experiences relevant to their industry for this year.

“My theme for this year, Cultivate the Future, captures both the possibilities and obstacles present in today’s trade environment,” said Verity Ulibarri, USGC Chairwoman, on Wednesday.

“At this meeting, we will address the challenges within our industry, examine the global future demand for feed grains, distiller’s dried grains with solubles and ethanol and emphasize the importance of continuing our efforts to build new markets while ensuring sustainable growth for future generations.”

Friday’s agenda sports a discussion about the current rail situation with the United States’ top trading partner, Mexico, and a panel of USGC regional directors discussing recent trade triumphs and ongoing challenges.

The conference will conclude with a USGC Board of Delegates meeting, financial reports and a bylaw change proposal.
