Delegates Recognized For Five Years Of Council Service

The Council recognized several delegates at this week’s 63rd Annual Board of Delegates meeting for five years of service to the organization, including Diaa Ghaly, Devin Mogler and Laura Wilder.

Ghaly serves as managing director at Trans Globe, which exports U.S. agriculture products and offers technical support to buyers in more than 40 countries around the world.

He has been involved with the Council since he moved to the U.S. from his native Egypt and he is excited for continued chances to advocate for sustainable farming that brings value to producers and consumers alike.

“There’s going to be a lot of opportunities for the U.S. agricultural sector to promote its products as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Ghaly said. “When it comes to my personal passion, it’s exploring new markets and establishing relationships with customers to benefit U.S. agriculture.”

Mogler is SVP government relations, sustainability and communications sustainability and communication at Green Plains, one of the largest ethanol producers in the country.

His first experience with the Council was on a trade mission to China with the Iowa Corn Growers’ Association.

“American agriculture is unmatched, and we are truly the world’s breadbasket. We produce more food and biofuel than we can ever hope to consume, so it is critical that we have foreign market access,” Mogler said. “The investment from the federal government, along with checkoff funds, pays a massive return on investment for farmers and agri-businesses.”

Mogler’s work with the Council allows him to further explore his interest in traveling and learning about different cultures.

“I love to travel and meet new people, so the Council provides another opportunity to do that, while advocating for American agriculture, which is a passion of mine,” Mogler said.

Wilder is the executive director of the Idaho Barley Commission, which she said is a multi-faceted role that includes administration and development and implementation of market development, educational and research programs.

“I have come to truly value and appreciate the expertise and support of USGC staff from the D.C. office, as well as all of the USGC global team members,” Wilder said. “From potential buyer contacts and resources to trade knowledge and expertise, I have found the talent, dedication and helpfulness of all USGC staff members to be exceptional.”

Wilder has hosted five Council trade teams from China, Japan, Mexico and Southeast Asia and accompanied Council missions to Mexico and Panama during her time with the organization.

“The best business always comes down to relationships, and those relationships are best formed in person at the farm level,” Wilder said. “Helping facilitate the visits and the resulting business and cultural understanding that unfolds is extremely satisfying.”

Please join the Council in congratulating Diaa, Devin and Laura for their five years of service!
