Hiwot Asfaw joined the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) in its Washington, D.C., headquarters on June 5 as the new manager of domestic accounting.
In this role, Asfaw will oversee accounting functions, produce internal and external financial reports and provide accounting support to the director of finance.
“Hiwot brings more than 15 years of hands-on experience in financial reporting, budget analysis and grant management, making her a valuable addition to our organization,” said Addis Tilahun, USGC director of finance. “We are excited to work with her and look forward to benefiting from her extensive accounting experience and knowledge in this role.”
Before joining the Council, Asfaw served as a senior accountant II at Mary’s Center, where she gained expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, tax compliance and other regulatory requirements.
Asfaw holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Mekelle University and a master’s degree in accounting and finance from Keller’s Graduate School of Management.
