Juan Sebastian Diaz

Deputy Regional Director

Juan Diaz serves as deputy regional director for Latin America for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products worldwide. In this capacity, Diaz is responsible for supporting the regional director and overseeing the Council’s programming in Latin America.

Diaz originally joined the Council in 2017 as a regional ethanol consultant.

Prior to joining the Council, Diaz acted as an Agricultural Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), where he supported the implementation of the US-Colombia Free Trade Agreement and the coordination of trade capacity building activities. Diaz has also worked with the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture as a Rural Development Advisor, and as a Supervisor of Irrigation Projects for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture.

Diaz holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a master’s degree in agribusiness from the University of Queensland, Australia, and a master’s degree in innovation and entrepreneurship from University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
