U.S. Grains Council (USGC) leaders, including Chairman Josh Miller, President and CEO Ryan LeGrand and Vice President Cary Sifferath, traveled to London last week to attend the International Grains Council’s (IGC’s) Grains Conference as part of London Grains Week.
IGC’s annual international conference acts as a platform for dialogue between policymakers, organizations and operators throughout the grain value chain. The Council was a sponsor at this year’s event, where the organization’s representatives joined industry counterparts from around the world to talk more about the issues that matter most to the global grain industry.
The conference revolved around seven sessions, including actions to overcome a food security crisis together; improving productivity and sustainability in the grains sector; and a regional snapshot of East Africa, among others.
“The IGC’s Grains Week offers a great opportunity for organizations and leaders from across the global grain industry to come together and discuss matters that affect many,” LeGrand said. “By working with our industry counterparts from around the world, we can better tell the story of the Council and its work while learning from others as well.”
The second day of the conference offered a deeper look at specific commodities, including corn, wheat, soybeans and rice. To round out the event, participants received an update on the grains production outlook, which evaluated the swings in 2023/24 output.
