Last week, at a conference is Lethbridge, Alberta, the U.S. Grains Council briefed Canadian end-users about new research about the value of distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in barley based rations, a common Canadian formulation. This research provided Canadian end-users with better information on utilizing the new, low-oil DDGS now available in export market.
Removal of oil from DDGS reduces energy content, but the The research found that low oil DDGS still had about the same energy content as barley when used in barley based rations. This research was important in resolving uncertainty about the changing composition of DDGS and maintaining transparency between DDGS exporters and importers.
