Melissa Kessler transitioned to a new role at the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) on Jan. 2 as the new director of strategic relations.
The Council revived this position in order to strengthen relationships with Council supporters as well as domestic and international partners through strategic communications and awareness of Council programs.
“We are excited to have Melissa in this new role, which will bridge the Council’s policy and communications functions,” said Tom Sleight, Council president and chief executive officer. “Her diverse background and years working with our global programming bring a wealth of experience that is critical in this complex policy environment.”
Kessler previously worked as the USGC director of communications where she developed and led the Council’s overall communications initiatives and public relations efforts, including internal and external communication strategies.
Prior to joining the Council, Kessler ran a consulting practice focused on strategic communications and organizational effectiveness issues. Kessler also worked as the director of communications at the National Association of Wheat Growers as well as a reporter and editor.
Kessler holds a master’s degree in organization development from American University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma.
Please join us in congratulating Melissa on her new role!
