Julia Debes Joins USGC As Communications Manager

The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) welcomed Julia Debes to its headquarters staff on Thursday as manager of communications.

Debes comes to her new role with extensive experience in agriculture communication, including membership-focused communications and international market development.

She most recently worked as the communications director for the National Sorghum Producers, a USGC member, and previously in her own communications company and as assistant director of communications at U.S. Wheat Associates.

She and her husband now farm in Kansas, from where she will telework, focusing on content development and communications-related project management for USGC.

Julia holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture communication and journalism from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in media and communications studies from Florida State University.

“Having known Julia professionally for several years, I am confident she will be an immediate asset to the Council and a friendly partner for all of us in our ongoing work,” said Melissa Kessler, USGC’s communications director. “I am excited to have Julia joining our team and look forward to her working with our members and staff.”

Welcome, Julia!
