This year has seen the U.S. Grains Council return to its roots: hosting trade teams, sending members on missions around the world and welcoming attendees completely in person to its annual membership meetings.
Staff in each of the Council’s offices have found ways to Live the Mission of the Council this year, connecting with buyers of U.S. corn, sorghum, barley, distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and ethanol in their markets to develop markets, enable trade and improve lives.
From seeing great success at its first Export Exchange since 2018, opening our new office in India and leading successful aquaculture and industrial starch programs around the world to assisting in the implementation of an E10 policy in the United Kingdom, Council staff have worked diligently to serve the members the organization represents.
Beyond our worldwide success stories, you can look back at some commodity-specific high points from 2022 – record sales of U.S. corn to one of our top markets, Canada ; seeing the potential sorghum holds in snack food development; 75 percent of total U.S. barley product exports going to Mexico; hosting the first-ever conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to promote DDGS; and experiencing 77 percent year-over-year growth in direct U.S. ethanol imports to Southeast Asia.
As we continue to navigate life post-pandemic, the Council is excited to bring back the events that are the hallmark of the organization while using the lessons learned and the technology introduced along the way to further enhance its work around the world.
