Journalist and businessman Ron Insana will discuss trade’s impact on current U.S. policy and politics and highlight the importance of a positive trade environment during the U.S. Grain’s Council’s (USGC’s) 56th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting, which is set to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, from July 25 to 27.
During the event, attendees will hear Insana’s insights into the current election cycle’s treatment of trade and the importance of trade to the United States, including the recently concluded Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.
“Politics influence trade policy – which creates the environment in which the global marketplace operates, said USGC Chairman Alan Tiemann, a farmer from Nebraska. “U.S. farmers need sound trade policy to maintain their competitiveness in the global market. During Ron’s presentation, we will hear a refreshing perspective on how exports matter, despite the current negative political atmosphere.
With more than 30 years of experience in both journalism and in the business world, Insana has a wealth of experience in the public trade conversation. Currently, he hosts The Market Scoreboard Report, contributes to MSNBC and CNBC and writes for Money magazine and USA Today, in which he introduces and examines economic and market-based issues.
He has gained global notoriety for his in-depth interviews of important economic and political figures, such as former President Bill Clinton and investor Warren Buffet. Additionally, Insana has gained valuable experience through his career as CEO of Insana Capital Partners from 2006 to 2008, which managed $125 million at its peak.
“Ron brings an important perspective to the issues facing trade today, Tiemann said. “Our delegates who attend the meeting will gain a greater appreciation for the relationship between politics and our global trade network through his time with us.
