The 2016/2017 marketing year broke a record for feed grain exports in all forms – and the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) is developing new visual resources for farmers, members and others to use in sharing the story of how important this demand is to farm profitability.

The first round of graphics developed by the Council highlights highest ever exports for U.S. ethanol at 1.37 billion gallons (488 million bushels in corn equivalent) in 2016/2017. The graphics also include export totals for U.S. barley at nearly 114,000 metric tons (5.2 million bushels), U.S. sorghum at 6.04 million tons (238 million bushels) as well as 2016/2017 sales of corn to Mexico of 13.9 million tons (546.8 million bushels), worth $2.5 billion.

Sharegraphics also offer information on the impact of trade agreements on exports. Growth in exports since the start of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is accentuated by detailing the 12-fold increase in DDGS exports to Canada and Mexico.

This content visually complements the market data that shows the Council’s motto, “when trade works, the world wins.” The Council’s work to develop markets and enable trade continues in the 2017/2018 marketing year as staff work to seize short-term market opportunities and build long-term demand for U.S. corn, barley, sorghum, ethanol, DDGS and other co-products.
