As more than 200 coarse grain and co-product importers, buyers and end-users prepare to descend on Detroit from Oct. 24 – 26, 2016, for the U.S. Grains Council’s (USGC’s) and the Renewable Fuels Association’s (RFA’s) Export Exchange conference, U.S. sellers and exporters should also be preparing their sales pitches and registering to attend by clicking here.

“Export Exchange really kicks off the Council’s efforts to promote this year’s U.S. corn crop abroad,” said USGC Senior Director of Global Programs Cary Sifferath in a recent interview. “We know sales will firm up when we have major buyers and end-users all in one location with U.S. sellers and exporters.”

Export Exchange is especially important this year for corn and corn co-products in light of the expected large corn harvest, Sifferath said. To promote U.S. corn, distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and other grains beyond the walls of the conference, the Council is sponsoring 19 teams of intentional participants to visit the U.S. crop growing areas and see production firsthand.

“We have 215 international buyers and importers that will tour corn farms, visit export elevators and barge and container loading facilities,” Sifferath said. “These pre- and post-tours are a great way to bring buyers and sellers together and to get these international buyers to see this year’s crop, harvest and export firsthand.”

In addition to meeting with suppliers, foreign attendees at Export Exchange will be briefed on the global supply and demand situation, the latest developments in shipping, infrastructure and sustainability, a weather outlook and more.
