Anne Zaczek, U.S. Grains Council (USGC) manager of global development programs, will depart the Council at the end of October.

Zaczek joined the Council in September 2010 as the international operations coordinator. She was promoted to manager of international operations for Asia in 2011 and manager of programs and planning in 2012. In 2013, she assumed her position as manager of global development programs, directing the Council’s program in Tanzania.

The Council’s work in Tanzania is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food for Progress (FFP) program, designed to promote the development and professionalization of the country’s commercial poultry and feed sectors. Since the program’s start in early 2014, the Council has trained more than 1,000 Tanzanian poultry producers in farm management practices through local training seminars and training programs like Mwakajila’s at KZNPI.

Upon returning to Tanzania from KZNPI training programs, 98 percent of participants have applied improved techniques to their production practices. In addition, as the combined result of the whole USGC program, 522 poultry producers now purchase only quality feed for their operations, decreasing the average feed conversion ratio of program participants from 2.7 to 2.35:1.

“In the four years she managed the creation of the Tanzanian Poultry Association, Anne has done a remarkable job of developing an institution that will be at the forefront of the poultry sector in Tanzania for years to come,” said Kurt Shultz, USGC senior director of global strategies. “I want to congratulate Anne on a job well done.”
