A nationally recognized port expert will discuss some of the most challenging issues in intermodal transportation at the U.S. Grains Council’s International Marketing Conference and Annual Membership Meeting this February in New Orleans.
Kurt J. Nagle, president and CEO of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), will pilot an exploration of various infrastructure sectors, their differing outlooks and views on infrastructure challenges, and how they can combine to focus a national dialogue on infrastructure.
“Drawing on more than 30 years of port experience, Kurt Nagle is in a unique position to help us explore the full range of importing and exporting dynamics and how they clash or cooperate over infrastructure improvements, explained Tom Sleight, USGC vice president of operations and membership. “In any discussion of infrastructure and exports, Kurt is well worth listening to.
Nagle joined AAPA, the alliance of leading public port authorities in the Western Hemisphere, in 1985 and was appointed as president and CEO in 1995. Previously he served as director of international trade for the National Coal Association and assistant secretary for the Coal Exporters Association. Prior to that, he worked in the Office of International Economic Research at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
He currently serves on the executive committee of the Propeller Club of the United States and is a former commissioner of PIANC, the International Navigation Congress. Nagle holds a master’s degree in economics from George Mason University.
