Helen Elmore, who served on the U.S. Grains Council’s Washington, D.C., staff from 1987 to 1989, and again from 1991 to 1999, is returning to the Council as the new director of finance and administration. She will replace Margaret Haberman, who retired earlier this month.
“Helen is the ultimate professional, her warmth and familiarity with the Council will enable her to come quickly up to speed,” said Tom Sleight, USGC president and CEO. “She will assume her new position starting with our annual meeting in Long Beach on Feb. 9.”
Coming back to the Council “feels like coming home,” said Elmore, currently in her 15th year serving as human resources director for the Columbia Lighthouse School for the Blind in Washington, D.C.
Much of her Council work will be familiar, since Elmore was director of administration when she left the Council.
“I’m looking forward to re-establishing past relations and to meeting new staff and members,” she said. “I’m definitely looking forward to more involvement with international staff functions, and I already appreciate the excellent and experienced accounting staff both in Washington, D.C., and worldwide.”
Elmore is a graduate of The George Washington University, with a bachelor’s degree in human kinetics and leisure studies. She has extensive experience in human resources and benefits management, office management, volunteer management, event planning, and recruiting.
Welcome back Helen!
