NAFTA Video Series Part 2: The Mexican Perspective

The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) is pleased to release the second half of its video series focusing on the North American Free Trade Agreement’s (NAFTA’s) impact on Mexican buyers and end-users.

“The mutual benefits of free trade as a result of NAFTA have helped Mexico integrate more with the United States, attract foreign investment and grow more quickly, said U.S. Meat Export Federation Regional Director for Mexico Chad Russell.

In addition to growing the market, NAFTA has had other important impacts in Mexico that have been key to the country’s market development.

“Our industry has been able to advance through new technology traveling across the border, said Fernando Lorano for ANFACA, Mexico’s association of feed manufacturers. “We now have increased access to feed formulations that are superior and better genetics for our livestock sectors.

This technology includes improvements to infrastructure.

“NAFTA has allowed us to grow as we have better access to the supply to the quantity and quality grains that we require, said Arturo Basulto, Inter Industrias, a Mexican ag supplier. “We have improved infrastructure in place to receive bigger and more modern vessels, allowing us to have lower rates of freight.
