After two years of discussion, planning and organization, MAIZALL this week took to the field, meeting with key government and feed industry leaders in South Korea and China. A partnership of the national corn producer organizations of Argentina, Brazil and the United States, MAIZALL is an alliance of the world’s top three corn exporting countries, working together to advocate the elimination of trade barriers, acceptance of modern agricultural technology and enhancement of food security through trade.
The MAIZALL delegation participated in China’s Food Security Strategy Summit in Beijing with top Chinese officials who are concerned with agricultural development, food security and rural issues. Other guests included senior USDA and Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture officials, senior executives from a number of major multinational trading companies, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Taking advantage of this trip, the MAIZALL team met with the American, Brazilian and Argentine embassies in both South Korea and China, the Korean and Chinese feed industry associations, and key regulatory officials in South Korea. During the U.S. Grains Council organized Trade Technology Symposium in Beijing the group met with more than 100 government officials.
The MAIZALL partners are MAIZAR (Argentina), ABRAMHILO (Brazil), the National Corn Growers Association, and the Council. While American, Argentine and Brazilian growers are global competitors, they share common interests as exporters in food security, biotechnology, stewardship, trade and producer image.
