USGC Recognizes Three Delegates for Years of Service

As the U.S. Grains Council recognizes years of service this July, President and CEO Tom Sleight emphasizes the importance of members marking five and 10 years of Council leadership.

“Just as our challenges in world markets change over the years, the Council needs to adapt and evolve,” Sleight says. “The willingness of the next generation of leaders to get involved, and stay involved, is a constant and essential source for new perspectives that help us change.”

As an example, he cited Tim Carlson of Ag Solutions and Jim Tobin of Monsanto/Corn States Hybrid Service LLC, being recognized for five years of service and David Strawn of Wyffels Hybrids Inc., who is completing 10 years of service.

All three have been especially active in promoting the Council’s value-added initiatives, Strawn as leader of the Value-Added Advisory Team (2004-2007), Carlson as a host for foreign teams such as the 2012 Moroccan team, and Tobin as an at-large director of the Council’s Board of Directors.

“Leaders like Tim, Jim and Dave are essential to keep Council programs timely and effective,” Sleight concluded, “and their continued involvement promises a great future for the Council and its work.”
