As the CEO of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), Alberto Alemán Zubieta will share his expertise on the Canal’s current operations and future expansionist plans on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the U.S. Grains Council’s upcoming 9th International Marketing Conference and 52nd Annual Membership Meeting in Panama.

Under his leadership, the ACP has been proactive in transforming the Canal into a world leader in maritime industry service, making it a cornerstone of global transportation and a model of excellence.
A graduate of Texas A&M University’s Civil Engineering Program, Sr. Zubieta served as head of one of Panama’s largest construction companies before being appointed as administrator of the Panama Canal Commission, the U.S. agency then responsible for overseeing the Canal.
In 1998, he was named administrator of the Panama Canal Authority and served the Commission and the ACP concurrently for two years, assuring continuity in Canal management when control transitioned from the United States to the Republic of Panama.
Sr. Zubieta has received national and international recognition, including Latin Trade magazine’s “Distinguished Service in the Hemisphere Award.� In 2010, Lloyd’s List named him one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Shipping.�
