Smiley To Depart Council After 23 Years Working With Members

Please join the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) in bidding farewell to Valerie Smiley as she leaves the organization to work closer to her family and her home in Maryland.

Smiley started at the Council in the role of executive assistant and transitioned in 2000 to her current role of manager of membership administration. In both roles, she has worked closely with the Council’s many members and has become known for organizing details, maintaining essential records, keeping people on schedule and welcoming members with a smile to USGC meetings.

“Valerie has demonstrated great commitment to the Council over the last 23 years,” said Tom Sleight, USGC president and CEO. “The institutional knowledge and many talents Valerie brought to the job will be greatly missed.”

Smiley’s last day with the Council will be Friday, Feb. 3.
