2024 Annual Report

Mexico Breaks Record For U.S. Corn Imports

U.S. corn exports to Mexico totaled 23.4 million metric tons (MMT), equivalent to 924 million bushels, in marketing year (MY) 2023/2024 according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That number set a record for annual U.S. corn sales to a single country.

Mexico shattered its own record of 16.1 MMT, equivalent to 636.2 million bushels, set in MT 2022/2023.

“Mexico has long been a crucial partner to the U.S. agricultural industry and the sales numbers from MY 2023/2024 show that consumer appetite for U.S. corn is as strong as ever,” said Heidi Bringenberg, USGC director in Mexico.

“Our work doesn’t stop there, and the Council’s staff will continue working to further expand exports to Mexico and defend it from corn from competing origins to maintains strong demand for U.S. products.”

Mexico was the overall top customer for U.S. agriculture in MY 2023/2024, purchasing 35 MMT of products, more than twice as much as the next highest country.
