At the U.S. Grains Council’s 10th International Marketing Conference and 53rd Annual Membership Meeting in Charleston, S.C., Chip Councell will be recognized for his five years of service to the Council. Councell currently serves as USGC corn sector director and is the board liaison to the Asia Advisory Team (A-Team). He previously served as the leader of the Trade Policy A-Team.
In 2009 and 2011, he traveled to Geneva as part of a delegation that met with negotiators, U.S. and foreign ambassadors, and World Trade Organization leadership to discuss the Doha trade talks and express corn, barley and sorghum trade priorities and concern.
Recently, Councell gave presentations in Japan, Taiwan and Korea on the U.S. farmer perspective and impact of the drought after the release of the Council’s Corn Harvest Quality Report 2012/13. He also opened up his farm to Council Washington, D.C., staff earlier in the year, to allow those with limited on-the-farm knowledge to understand the intricacies of farming and the first steps taken before products are marketed overseas.
Be sure to tell Chip congratulations and thank him for his dedicated service to the Council in Charleston!
