Caleb Wurth joined the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) on Monday, Nov. 27, as the assistant director for Southeast Asia.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Wurth will assist in identifying and addressing trade, technical and policy factors relevant to building and maintaining the market for U.S. coarse grains and co-products.

“Caleb is an excellent addition to our Southeast Asia regional staff,” said Cary Sifferath, USGC senior director of global programs. “His past merchandising and logistical experience will be a great fit to help further develop markets and increase sales of U.S. feed grains in all forms in this important and growing region.”

USGC’s Board of Directors voted to create this new position in September 2016 as part of an effort to more effectively serve the burgeoning regional market. This effort compliments other recent staff alignments meant to help find, develop and capture wholly new demand for corn, sorghum, barley, distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and ethanol.

Most recently with ADM, Wurth has experience marketing corn and corn co-products to feedlots and working on containerized grain export logistics, both of which are particularly relevant to the region in which he will be working. As a student at Kansas State University, he took part in a Council- and FFA-sponsored I-CAL program to educate young leaders on international trade issues.

Wurth earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in feed science and management.
