The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) recently recognized Wendie Cable, assistant for the Council’s executive staff and members of its Board of Directors, for five years of service at the organization’s 14th International Marketing Conference and 57th Annual Membership Meeting in Panama City, Panama. This week, the Council again thanked Cable for those years of hard work and wished her well as she leaves her role.

""Cable joined the Council in 2012, following work with KPMG, a global audit, tax and advisory services firm. Since that time, she has coordinated administrative and travel arrangements for the Council’s Board and executive staff as well as helped arrange spouse programs at annual meetings. According to her, the personal relationships developed during those activities were both important and meaningful.

“Getting to know not only the Board members but also the members themselves has been a highlight for me as well as building relationships with each year’s chairman,” she said.

Within the office, Cable said she organized team-building activities for the Council’s Washington, D.C.-based staff and offered support her fellow staff members.

“Wendie has contributed mightily to office morale,” said USGC President and CEO Tom Sleight. “Her caring nature and professionalism have always shone through in her work. All of us wish her well in this transition.”

Following her final day with USGC on Friday, March 3, Cable plans to focus on spending more time with her children.

“The time was just right for a change. This break is the first I have had from formal work since my son was five,” she said. “Now he is playing high-level hockey, so I will be driving him to tryouts. And I will be able to spend more time with my daughter, who is in college in Toronto.”
