{"id":4154,"date":"2016-01-07T13:54:18","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:54:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/experts-on-trade-policy-grain-markets-set-for-usgc-february-meeting\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T13:54:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T13:54:18","slug":"experts-on-trade-policy-grain-markets-set-for-usgc-february-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/experts-on-trade-policy-grain-markets-set-for-usgc-february-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Experts on Trade Policy, Grain Markets Set for USGC February Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Grains Council\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (USGC\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s) <a href=\"http:\/\/USGC.informz.net\/z\/cjUucD9taT01MjY3MTMxJnA9MSZ1PTEwNjIwMjQxMTYmbGk9MzI2NzEyMzQ\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">13<sup>th<\/sup> International Marketing Conference and 56<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Membership Meeting<\/a> scheduled for Sarasota, Florida, from Feb. 15-17, 2016, is slated to have a stimulating line-up of expert speakers offering members and other attendees insights into what makes the global grain market tick.<\/p>\n<p>Hot topics will include insights into how the upcoming presidential election may impact the global grain trade; the status of trade policy priorities and their importance to U.S. grain sales; and an examination of the world grain markets from the eyes of Argentine partners in MAIZALL, the international maize alliance.<\/p>\n<p>Additional talks will be on the long-term results of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the potential impact of the current El Ni\u00c3\u00b1o cycle on this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s crop season.<\/p>\n<p>Confirmed speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>A keynote presentation about the 2016 political climate and how it may impact trade policy, including the approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">renowned political analyst and publisher of <em>The Cook Political Report<\/em>, Charlie Cook.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>A look into the potential impact that the finalized Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) could have on grain exports by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ambassador Darci Vetter, chief agricultural negotiator for the U.S. Trade Representative.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The changing farm market in Argentina and MAIZALL\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s work by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Alberto Morelli, first vice president of MAIZALL and former president MAIZAR, and Martin Fraguio, executive director of MAIZAR.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Insights into both short- and long-term factors affecting the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s climate cycle by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joel Widenor of the Commodity Weather Group.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>An examination of NAFTA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s long-term impact on North American grain trade by panelists including&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">USGC Regional Director of the Western Hemisphere Marri Carrow, USGC Director in Mexico Julio Hernandez and USGC Consultant in Canada Neil Campbell.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a member-led organization, the Council depends on its delegates\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 commitment and participation and encourages stakeholders to make plans soon to attend the February meeting.
