Erick Erickson, U.S. Grains Council (USGC) vice president, is retiring this summer after more than 30 years with the Council and is planning to offer his reflections on the Council’s activities around the world to USGC delegates during the organization’s 55th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting next month.

“Erick has made many significant contributions to the Council during his tenure, said USGC Chairman Ron Gray. “His strategic insight into long-term planning has been invaluable to us and helped make our organization successful.
“For example, he set the industry standard for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) cooperator groups when he created a long-term planning strategy that examined markets and potential for the Council.

In his Council tenure, Erickson has served in a variety of roles including director of global strategies; executive director for membership, administration and communication; director of planning and evaluation; and vice president on two occasions.

Prior to the Council, Erickson was an international affairs officer at the USDA Scientific and Technical Exchange Division, Office of International Cooperation and Development.

His last day at the Council is scheduled for Aug. 7.

“Erick’s dedication and vast knowledge of the many different facets of the Council will be sorely missed, Gray said. “We are excited to hear some reflections and words of wisdom from him as he departs and to have an opportunity to honor him as a group.
