{"id":3770,"date":"2015-05-14T13:53:57","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T13:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/may-is-world-trade-month-join-the-ag-tradetuesday-discussion-online\/"},"modified":"2015-05-14T13:53:57","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T13:53:57","slug":"may-is-world-trade-month-join-the-ag-tradetuesday-discussion-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/may-is-world-trade-month-join-the-ag-tradetuesday-discussion-online\/","title":{"rendered":"May is World Trade Month: Join the Ag #TradeTuesday Discussion Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Join the U.S. Grains Council (USGC), sister farmer organizations and the International Trade Administration in celebrating World Trade Month this May and ag trade week this week.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some fun facts about trade according to the office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.0080003738403px; line-height: 1.538em;\">Every billion dollars of goods and services exported supported more than an estimated 5,000 U.S. jobs in 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.0080003738403px; line-height: 1.538em;\">The five largest U.S. export markets for all products are: Canada ($301.6 billion), Mexico ($226.1 billion), China ($121.7 billion), Japan ($65.2 billion) and Hong Kong ($42.3 billion).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.0080003738403px; line-height: 1.538em;\">U.S. exports of agricultural products to APEC countries totaled $104.7 billion in 2013.&nbsp; Leading categories included: soybeans ($18.7 billion), pork and pork products ($5.6 billion), wheat ($5.5 billion), beef and beef products ($5.4 billion), and corn ($5.2 billion).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.0080003738403px; line-height: 1.538em;\">China was the United States&#8217; 3rd largest goods export market in 2013.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Council, in partnership with National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), has been joining the Twitter discussion with the hashtag #TradeTuesday.
