{"id":3318,"date":"2014-08-07T13:37:38","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T13:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/new-chairman-gray-announces-theme-of-global-awareness-global-connections\/"},"modified":"2014-08-07T13:37:38","modified_gmt":"2014-08-07T13:37:38","slug":"new-chairman-gray-announces-theme-of-global-awareness-global-connections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grains.org\/ltamex\/new-chairman-gray-announces-theme-of-global-awareness-global-connections\/","title":{"rendered":"New Chairman Gray Announces Theme of \u201cGlobal Awareness, Global Connections\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.grains.org\/news\/20140801\/gray-elected-new-us-grains-council-chairman\">Incoming U.S. Grains Council Chairman Ron Gray<\/a> announced the organization\u2019s theme for the coming year of \u201cGlobal Awareness, Global Connections,\u201d at the conclusion of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grains.org\/news-and-events\/events\/54th-annual-board-delegates-meeting\">Omaha meeting<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The theme, developed to guide major outreach programs during Gray\u2019s tenure, &nbsp;embraces the opportunities and partnerships that U.S. grain farmers enjoy, while acknowledging there is still work to be done to expand and improve global connections. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlobal awareness starts with us, and awareness leads to connections,\u201d Gray said in a speech to USGC delegates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Council\u2019s work is individualized \u2013 each region, each nation and each situation is unique \u2013 just like a thumbprint,\u201d Gray said. \u201cRobust export markets are the result of demand building, trade agreements, transportation, trade servicing, confidence building, responsiveness and empathy, which are all things we can impact through awareness and connections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nuBeEK5j3gU\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Gray, a farmer from Illinois, was selected for his new role during USGC&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grains.org\/news-and-events\/events\/54th-annual-board-delegates-meeting\">54th Annual Board of Delegates meeting <\/a>in Omaha, Nebraska, last week.<\/p>\n<p>He is a farmer from Claremont, Illinois, with 35 years of experience in production agriculture. He has also been a crop insurance agent for almost a decade.<\/p>\n<p>A past chairman of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board, Gray has been a delegate from that Board to the Council since 2002.<\/p>\n<p>At the Omaha meeting, the Board of Delegates also elected the Council\u2019s 2014-2015 Board of Directors.
