High attendance numbers at the Jordan Poultry Producers Association’s (JPPA) Conference in January was a strong indication of industry development, according to Joe O’Brien, U.S. Grains Council regional director.

“This was an opportunity for the Council to target more poultry operators and educate attendees on the benefits of incorporating U.S. DDGS and sorghum in poultry rations, O’Brien commented, later adding that the conference was a unique platform to address producer quality concerns and promote value-enhanced U.S. grain products.

“Obtaining quality poultry feed was a big issue at this meeting. U.S. suppliers now have a chance to set a standard in value and reliability in the region, O’Brien noted.

Based on a number of recent industry achievements, market development in Jordan’s poultry sector has seen new progress. The Association’s successful negotiation in removing a 4 percent broiler tax and reducing a municipal fee collected on slaughtered birds will relieve producers of burdensome production costs. Moreover, prices of feed and poultry are now published daily.

“JPPA left this conference with a larger member base and a solid foundation in driving industry expansion, O’Brien said. The Association currently represents almost 10 percent of Jordan’s poultry producers.
