Veteran Political Journalist Scheduled for USGC Annual Meeting Agenda

Attendees of the U.S. Grains Council’s 53rd Annual Board of Delegates Meeting will get their fast-paced taste of Canada, kicking off with a big-picture Canada presentation from iPolitics editor and publisher James Baxter. Baxter is a veteran political journalist who has provided award-winning coverage of the Ottawa and Alberta political battlegrounds during the past two decades.

In 2007, Baxter was awarded a prestigious Nieman Fellowship for his work on health care policy, securities regulation, and the economics of climate change. While there, he became gripped by the plight facing traditional news media around the world and ultimately returned to Canada to establish an Ottawa-based all-politics news service modeled on Washington’s very successful Politico.

Since late 2010, Baxter has served as editor and publisher of iPolitics and is the lead writer of the Morning Brief, the most influential cheat sheet in Canadian politics.
