USGC Welcomes Summer Interns In Washington, Panama

The Nebraska Corn Board sponsors college students to intern with cooperators around the country each summer, during which time the students gain professional experience in the agricultural sector. This month, the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) welcomed Maddy Breeling as a summer intern in the Washington, D.C., office and Andrea Gurney as a summer intern in the Panama City office.

Breeling will be assisting the Council’s membership and communications departments with their day-to-day activities and upcoming membership meeting in July. Gurney will support the efforts of the Council in Panama City by assisting with daily projects, such as organizing trade teams and communicating with importers.

Breeling joins the Council from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she is working towards a degree in global studies with minors in business and national security.

“I am most looking forward to gaining experience within a non-profit organization that works globally within an industry so vital to my home state, Nebraska, Breeling said. “I am excited to learn more about how countries interact within agriculture, and how new markets can be created. I am grateful for this opportunity provided by the Nebraska Corn Board.

Gurney also joins the Council from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she is a senior majoring in agricultural business and minoring in animal science.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity to intern for the Council in Panama, Gurney said. “It is a pleasure to experience agriculture from a global perspective. However, it is even more exciting learning about how the Council works diligently to ensure global food security. I am eager to continue learning about trade policy, market development and international relations over the remainder of the summer.

Breeling’s first day was May 31. Gurney’s first day was May 16.
