USGC Discusses Work To Build Ethanol Markets At 2016 Fuel Ethanol Workshop And Expo

U.S. Grains Council (USGC) Manager of Ethanol Export Promotion Programs Ashley Kongs presented the roadmap for building global ethanol export demand developed by the organization and its domestic partners, including the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) and Growth Energy, during this week’s 2016 Fuel Ethanol Workshop and Expo (FEW) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The conference, which is stated to be the world’s largest ethanol event, was an excellent opportunity for the Council to connect with the domestic industry.

“The attendees were clearly interested in our work abroad, which may create new markets for their product,” Kongs said. “There is significant potential for ethanol exports, and our goal was to give the FEW audience a look into how our programs are focused on developing markets in countries with growing populations that want to expand their energy matrix to include renewable fuels.”

During the talk, Kongs discussed the Council’s and its partners’ work to promote ethanol this year in markets including Mexico, China, India, Japan and South Korea.

“We’ve had a busy year so far, which is helping to lay the groundwork for our plans later this year and in 2017,” Kongs said. “Already we are planning a Japanese trade team for this fall and follow-up programs in Korea and Mexico for late this year or early 2017.”

FEW attendees left the presentation with more information about the industry’s efforts in the global marketplace to promote U.S. ethanol as a clean, renewable fuel.
