The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) promoted Lucas Szabo to manager of ethanol export programs, starting on June 19. Szabo, who is extensively familiar with USGC policies and programs, is working closely with the outgoing manager, Ashley Kongs, leading up to her departure for graduate school next month.
“I am excited Lucas is filling this position,” said Mike Dwyer, USGC chief economist. “Lucas has demonstrated proficiency and flexibility in supporting USGC programs, and we are excited to add him to the ethanol team.”
In his new role, Szabo will assist in developing and managing implementation of export strategies, market development programs and policy engagement in the Council’s worldwide ethanol program.
Szabo previously worked as the USGC global strategies coordinator, where he supported the global strategies, trade policy and biotechnology functions by organizing organized staff and member travel, preparing arrangements for visiting teams and facilitating program planning, correspondence, reports, information management and contracting.
Prior to joining the Council, Szabo worked for Amsco Global as an export trade specialist, where he exported industrial and safety materials to the oil and gas industries of the Middle East. Szabo also previously served as a business management intern for CG/LA Infrastructure, where he conducted market research of global infrastructure projects and coordinated operations between the D.C. and Brazilian offices.
Szabo earned a bachelor’s degree from Marist College in international business with a minor in Spanish.
