U.S. Barley Exposed to More Than 50,000 at Taiwan International Food Show

By Clover Chang, U.S. Grains Council Director in Taiwan

The U.S. Grains Council’s Taiwan office participated in the USA Pavilion during the 22nd annual Taipei International Food Show from June 27 to 30.  This has been one of the most influential food shows in Asia since 1991, highlighting the latest and best in the culinary world, and continues to expand every year.

Our office introduced the health characteristics of U.S. high beta-glucan barley and food products made from U.S. barley to more than 50,000 visitors, including local and other overseas industry professionals.

Visitors to the Council’s booth also included Eric Madison, deputy director at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), Jeffrey Hesse, chief of agricultural affairs section AIT, and Hoa Van Huynh, director of agricultural trade AIT, who were pleased to hear about the various applications of U.S. barley in food products. More than 2,000 copies of a recipe book for barely foods were also given to visitors at the booth.

This show was an excellent gateway to promote U.S. barley to food importers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers in the Asian market.
