Mary Boote Roth Will Bring Truth, Trade and Technology to USGC Summer Annual Meeting

Mary Boote Roth will discuss advocacy efforts for free trade and farmers’ freedom to choose the technologies they need during the Tuesday general session of the U.S. Grains Council’s (USGC’s) 55th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting set to be held July 27-29 in Montreal, Canada.

As a leading expert on agricultural policy, Boote Roth offers a unique prospective on biotechnology in the international marketplace. She will particularly highlight the challenges facing biotech advocates and supporters trying to create a dialogue regarding food and nutritional security across the globe.

“Increasingly end-users are becoming concerned about U.S. corn quality and the genetics that drive productivity and affect the quality,â€ said Ron Gray, USGC chairman. “Mary will discuss how farmers can effectively share their prospective on the benefits of biotechnology.â€

Boote Roth is the CEO of Truth About Trade & Technology (TATT) and the TATT Global Farmer Network, led by farmers who support free trade. Based in Des Moines, Iowa, TATT is recognized globally as an advocacy group devoted to developing positive and accurate messages about biotechnology.

The Tuesday general session will also feature Byong Ryol Min, USGC director of Korea, who will reflect on his long career with the Council prior to his October retirement. In addition, Jaron Porciello, a member of the Cornell Alliance for Science, will provide insights into articulating science to the public.
