Richard Kasting, U.S. Grains Council (USGC) director of strategic relations, is scheduled to retire this fall after four and a half years of dedicated service to the Council.
As director of strategic relations, Kasting has been charged with creating and implementing efforts to strengthen relations with Council supporters and partners through strategic communications and awareness of Council programs.
“Dick has been very instrumental in the Council’s unique ability to communicate with a range of audiences about the Council’s strategic plan, provide insight on branding and strategic communications and help support the creation of MAIZALL, the international maize alliance, said USGC President and CEO Thomas Sleight.
Kasting brought more than 30 years of experience in government, public policy and politics to his work at the Council. Prior to the joining the USGC staff, Kasting served at U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Rural Development as director of congressional affairs and on Capitol Hill as a legislative staffer in both the House and the Senate. His career has also included time with a national political party organization and for a national consulting firm.
“Dick has tremendous talent as a writer and master synthesizer of information, Sleight said. “After retiring once before joining the Council in 2011 to do this great work, Dick’s skills and expertise are greatly appreciated and will be missed.
Kasting’s last day at the Council will be Sept. 30.
Congratulations, Dick!
