Council to Fill Korean Post with Experienced Grains Industry Professional

The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) is pleased to announce Haksoo Kim has joined the staff as assistant director in the Council’s Korea office.

“Mr. Kim is an innovative executive and marketing professional with experience in both the U.S. and Korean grain industries,� said USGC President and CEO Tom Sleight. “He has proven experience with establishing business, working and analyzing the grain industry and more.�

As assistant director in Korea, Mr. Kim will work with the director in Korea to develop a strategy and plan to identify and address all relevant trade, technical and policy related factors relevant to building and maintaining the market for U.S. coarse grains and co-products in Korea. Additionally, he will assist in directing programs including strategic analysis; program planning; implementation and evaluation; budget and accounting; personnel; administration and communications.

Prior to joining the Council, Mr. Kim spent the majority of his career at Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation in a variety of capacities. In addition, Mr. Kim has experience with the Council from his time as president of aT Grain Corporation, during which time he served as a USGC delegate and sat on the Asia Advisory Team.

Mr. Kim holds advanced accreditations from MASHAC R&D, Yonsei University and Seoul National University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Keimyung University.

“He will be a great fit in the Korea office with his background and skill set,� Sleight said. “We are excited to have him aboard.�

Mr. Kim’s first day was July 1. He will be traveling with two USGC trade teams in July as well as attending the 55th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting, where USGC delegates can meet him in person.
