The U.S. Grains Council has hosted 17 foreign delegations so far this year made up of buyers, end-users, policy makers, government regulators and members of the media from around the globe. With 16 teams still set to come to the United States this fall, 2015 is proving to be busy for the USGC staff.
“We bring in teams from various countries or regions throughout the world for specific purposes, said USGC Vice President and COO Kimberly Atkins. “Sometimes it’s a grain purchasing team, other times it’s more technical-type teams like swine teams that go to the World Pork Expo or dairy teams that go to the World Dairy Expo. We also bring in teams that are being educated about the advantages of biotechnology.
“But for all these teams the purpose is to either to provide them information they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get or to introduce them to suppliers of U.S. coarse grains and co-products.â€
Many USGC trade teams will be in the U.S. Grain Belt in the coming weeks as harvest gets underway. During that time, watch for more information about them in future editions of Global Update and local ag press.
