Approximately 1.17 million metric tons of U.S. agricultural products were bought, sold and/or negotiated at the 7th Southeast Asia U.S. Agricultural Cooperators Conference. This equates to about $368.94 million in value based on current nearby Chicago Board of Trade futures.
Held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Sept. 14-17, 2010, this event is jointly organized by the U.S. Grains Council and the American Soybean Association, and this year, in partnership with the U.S. Wheat Associates.
The conference consisted of more than 175 participants representing 95 major companies involved in feed ingredient import and distribution, integrated food and feed operations, poultry and livestock production, oilseed crushing, port and logistics management, as well as ag-related associations and businesses. Collectively, this group represented an import potential of roughly 25 million metric tons of soybeans, soybean meal, corn and corn products, and wheat and wheat products combined.
“Year after year, this conference receives excellent support from the agriculture industry and this year we have achieved record contributions, said Adel Yusupov, USGC regional director in Southeast Asia. “The overall feedback indicates that the conference was again very well received by the participants, reinforcing its reputation as the undisputed main agricultural event of the season.
