Margaret Anderson and Karolina Karczewska joined the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council’s (USGBC’s) headquarters in Washington, D.C. this week.
Anderson joined as the organization’s Canada programs manager, operating in the Council’s ethanol department while liaising with its global strategies team for feed grain-related programming.
Anderson has extensive experience in program management, having worked with American Councils for International Education and Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture, and has engaged in international development work through her time with ACDI/VOCA and the International Finance Corporation.
She holds a master’s of business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a master’s degree in Russian studies from the European University at St. Petersburg and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Reed College.
“Margaret’s ability to intersect with private sector and government, build partnerships and engage on policy across diverse organizations provides her with a strong background for this new role,” said Alicia Koch, USGBC director of global ethanol export development.
“We look forward to utilizing her expertise to strengthen feed grain exports, in addition to expanded engagement in our largest ethanol market, not only for on-road blending but for opportunities in the aviation and marine fuel sectors as well.”
Karczewska joined as manager of global programs for Asia, bringing a strong background in international program management and federal grant compliance with experience at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), ACDI/VOCA, Hilti Corporation and Coca-Cola.
She holds a master’s degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Richmond.
“Karolina’s background in federal grant compliance and international program management, paired with her experience across USDA, ACDI/VOCA and the private sector, makes her an excellent fit for this role,” said Stella Qian, USGBC director of global programs administration.
“We’re excited to have her support the planning, implementation and evaluation of our USDA-funded feed grains programs in Asia and serve as a key point of contact for our South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia & Oceania offices as she contributes to the Council’s efforts to drive grain exports in these major markets.”
