After two years working toward authorization to open a liaison office in India, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India granted the Council a registered place of business certificate in September 2021.

After 25 years in country and a more than two-year approval process, the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) was granted permission in 2021 by the Indian government to open a physical office in the country. This new outpost will help Council representatives and members engage the large and growing Indian market, enhancing its mission of developing markets, enabling trade and improving lives.

This year, Council worked with government officials to create market access for distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and ethanol for fuel. As the second-largest market for U.S. ethanol, at over 144 million gallons, and one of the most populous countries in the world, India represents a vibrant and significant market that the Council and its members are committed to supporting in trade and development.

The Council has spent the year crafting focused messages and narratives to solidify its credibility in the market. Likewise, a physical presence in India will resonate throughout the area as a tangible commitment by the Council in the country.
