Who We Are
Julia Debes serves as the manager of communications for the U.S. Grains Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the global use of U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and related products including ethanol and distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS). In this capacity, Debes develops, implements and maintains the organization’s publications, online communications and other internal and external outreach.
Prior to the Council, she worked for the National Sorghum Producers as the communications director. Debes also served as the assistant director of communications for the U.S. Wheat Associates.
Debes holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications and journalism from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in media and communications studies from Florida State University.
The Council is a private, non-profit partnership of agribusinesses and producers committed to building and expanding international markets for U.S. feed grains and ethanol. The organization has 10 international offices that oversee programs in more than 50 countries. Support for the Council comes from its producer and agribusiness members and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) through programs authorized in the U.S. farm bill.
