Joy Jin Zhang, USGC Beijing office and program manager, will leave U.S. Grains Council (USGC) this week after nearly 17 years of service to the organization.
Zhang started with the Council in August 2000 as secretary. She advanced to administrative secretary then to her current position as office and program manager. In her current position, Joy manages key components of the Council’s Beijing office as well as coordinating policy programs and travel and itineraries for trade programs.
Bryan Lohmar, USGC China director, said Zhang adds a calm focus to any project, making sure details are planned and well-organized and that events go off without a hitch.
“Her measured, thorough and easy-going style are always greatly appreciated when we hold large events and the situation seems crazy,” Lohmar said. “But it never is crazy, because Joy is there and on top of everything.”
Cary Sifferath, USGC senior director of global programs, also worked closely with Zhang when he served as USGC China director from 2008 to 2010. He reiterated Zhang’s work on preparation, logistics and implementation of programs was crucial, even as that work occurred primarily out of the spotlight.
“Joy was a dedicated, hard-working employee, while always having a friendly smile and attitude in the office,” he said. “From dairy workshops, DDGS trade promotion conferences and even data tracking on our China corn harvest tours, Joy’s hard work behind the scenes is what made these programs a success.”
Zhang’s last day with the Council will be Friday, April 28. Please join us in wishing her the best in her future endeavors!
