The newest addition to the U.S. Grains Council's international staff is Rolando Javier Chavez, who will join the Mexico program as a marketing specialist consultant based in Monterrey. Chavez brings to the Council 25 years of broad experience in the feed industry, including service as a plant manager, customer service specialist, information technology specialist and most recently as a commodities buyer and logistics manager.
"We already have a terrific team in Mexico, and while U.S. feed grains enjoy a dominant market share in our next-door neighbor, we are alert to continuing growth potential," said USGC Regional Director of the Americas Kurt Shultz. "Javier is a great addition, and he brings a wealth of experience especially in the areas of trade servicing and logistics. We expect Javier to help us broaden and bring a new level of sophistication to our marketing and technical programs."
Mexico is the top Western Hemisphere customer for U.S. corn, distiller's dried grains with solubles and sorghum and is a key prospect for new export markets for barley, driven by industry restructuring and the emergence of a highly competitive microbrewery industry.
